Course description

During the workshop, participants will solve group and individual tasks in a fictitious setting close to that of real projects, with the guidance of the instructor. After each exercise, the group discusses their experience, identifying mistakes and shortcomings.
The workshop provides an excellent opportunity to put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired in the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level certification exam preparation course.

Target group

The program is recommended for junior testers who already have a theoretical background and want to gain deeper practical knowledge in software testing.

 

Course structure

1. SPECIFICATION, REQUIREMENT REVIEW

Practicing various review techniques and roles on system specification documents containing requirements.

2. IDENTIFICATION AND ASSESSMENT OF PRODUCT RISKS

Identification of potential software defects and product risks based on specification, and assessment based on probability and impact.

3. DEFINITION OF TESTING CONDITIONS

Determination and documentation of testing conditions starting from the test basis.

4. DESIGNING TEST CASES

Designing functional and non-functional test cases based on test conditions, use cases and user stories and documenting these cases using equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision table, state transition and exploratory test techniques.

5. DEVELOPING TEST CASES

Developing actual tests, including defining the steps to run, test inputs and expected results.

6. RUNNING TESTS

Actual running of tests, deciding on success, practicing logging tasks.

7. WRITING ERROR TICKETS

Creating defect tickets based on the results of the run and practicing filling in attributes.

8. GENERATING REPORTS

The tasks involved in preparing and interpreting reports for testing.

Prerequisites

A prerequisite for participation in the workshop is the completion of the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level training program, having an ISTQB CTFL certification or equivalent knowledge. The following concepts and techniques are essential to complete the training program: review, requirement, specification, use case, user story, risk, defect, test basis, test case, black-box testing, equivalence partition, boundary value analysis, decision table, statement diagram, exploratory testing. Experience as a tester is not a prerequisite for participation.
