Course description
In this self-paced online course, students will learn advanced Scrum Master fundamentals. This course explores the unique blend of skills and practices needed to support the Scrum Team and organization. By the end of the course, students will understand what it takes to be a successful Scrum Master and how important they are to the entire product delivery process. There are practical tips woven throughout, so students can start applying their learning immediately. Students will find answers to the most common questions people bring to Scrum.org and our Professional Scrum Trainers about the Scrum Master accountabilities.
All participants completing the Self-Paced Professional Scrum Master Advanced Fundamentals course will receive a passcode to attempt the Professional Scrum Master II (PSM II) Certification once they complete the course.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Articulate how the Scrum Values and the pillars of empiricism guide the decisions, behaviors, and actions of an effective Scrum Master.
- Implement the conditions necessary to enable a Scrum Team to become self-managing.
- Apply appropriate approaches to facilitate Scrum events, navigate different team dynamics, and foster effective collaboration.
- Navigate healthy conflict within the Scrum Team in ways that keep discussions constructive, focused, and value-driven.
- Describe how the Scrum Master enables the Product Owner to maximize value through outcome-oriented Product Goals and a well-ordered Product Backlog.
- Implement coaching and communication techniques to support the Product Owner in managing stakeholder expectations and reinforcing organizational respect for their decisions and accountability.
- Explain how understanding the goals, constraints, and pressures of the organization surrounding the Scrum Team enables the Scrum Master to work more effectively across the team, management, and the wider organization.
- Apply Evidence-Based Management™ (EBM) to frame and guide organizational conversations to connect the Scrum Team’s work to strategic business outcomes and value delivery.
- Apply practical techniques to make a positive impact across the three levels of a Scrum Master: The Scrum Team, the relationships, and the organization.
