Target group

The primary audience is an IT, Facilities or Data Center Operations professional working in and around the data center (representing both end-customers and or service provider / facilitators) and having to deal with Data Center Migration Projects and or Data Center Strategies.

Course structure

After completion of the course the attendee will be able:

Develop and review their Data Center Strategy.
Use different risk assessment methodologies together with practical tips specifically for Data Center migrations to reduce the risk during a data center migration.
Understand different migration strategies.
Understand the legal aspects when migrating a Data Center.
Understand the importance of Business Service Reviews and Service Level Objectives.
Size and design the target Data Center.
Understand the importance of detailed discovery and how dependencies influence migration waves.
Understand the safety requirements during migration.
Get lots of practical tips when moving to another Data Center.
Describe how the use of reliability engineering reduces risk and improves data center designs.

Prerequisites

While there are no specific requirements for this course, it is recommended that participants have actual experience in Data Center and/or IT infrastructures. Having attended CITM and/or CDCP is recommended but not a requirement.

Certification

Certification exam papers can be taken in paper based format at the end of the last day of the course, or online via an authorised training partner, depending on the country in which the course is delivered. The exam is a one hour, 40 questions, multiple choice and closed book exam. The attendee need to have 27 out of 40 questions correct in order to pass the exam.

The CDMS certificate is valid for 3 years, after which recertification is required.
