New Axelos Survey. Do certifications still have value?

The new publication “The Power of Professional Certification” from Axelos, the company behind ITIL® and PRINCE2® certifications, reveals insights into the power of professional certifications from the perspective of individuals and organizations. This survey included 1,870 respondents from 91 countries and 24 different industries, nearly half of whom hold a position at the manager level or above, with 13% belonging to the director level.

We’ve summarized the highlights of the survey for you:

Impact of Certification: 97% of decision-makers and 84% of individuals report that certification has a positive impact that results in increased efficiency and employee satisfaction.

Reasons for certification: Decision-makers support certification to meet organizational/industry requirements (58%), keep up with changing technology (54%), and improve productivity (54%). Most individuals choose to pursue certification to build new skills (66%) and gain confidence in their professional abilities (52%).

Areas of certification: decision-makers and individuals place a high value on certifications in project management (PPM) and IT service management (ITSM).

Future of Certifications: certifications in ITSM and traditional project management (PPM) are expected to be in high demand over the next two years and beyond.
